    Stalybridge.

Post by Surplus on Tue Mar 29, 2016 7:51 pm

Ok, Stalybridge are 17th with 1 win in 7. We've had our blip. Heads up lads and go out there and put in a performance. If you haven't made a mistake you haven't made anything. Over the 90 mins if you graft harder, craft clever and get a rub of the green 3 pts in the bag, then Lowestoft. Scrapping at the bottom but there for a reason.

The teams you want to avoid this time of season are the teams in a relegation scrap, they always seem to battle harder than the other teams. Maybe there is no pressure to succeed. Give me a mid table team with nothing left to play for. Town will do well to get a point against StalyVegas....

Mid table, bottom or top. If the lads can't get themselves up for it and the prospect of playoffs then SW really has got his work cut out.

It's always a very tough fixture, but I think we should win this 1-0 or 2-1. The players owe the fans a performance and I think we will get the 3 points. I'm managing to get to a game for the first time in 5 weeks, so hopefully I will leave happy!!!

Aaaaahhh, finally got to the bottom of this run of dogs breakfast results. TheNeil hasn't been showing his face. Right, he's immediately banned from ever missing another game, whether it's Harrogate Town 1st team, women's, kids under 2 mths or even Mike Bligh, Gary Plant and Rachel the physio having a kick about with a melon. #superstition

Could do with Hearn back. Getting in a proven goal scorer and he gets injured. Let's hope the rest of the lads are up for it. Has Burrells suspension commenced with this game?

I believe Hearn won't be fit for tomorrow albeit Kerry and Turner should be back.

Don't think Burrell is suspended for tomorrow albeit I have heard he has a 5 match suspension.

Let's get 2 big games out of him then. He owes in a massive way. Want him 1 st lighter after these 2 games. Bad run of luck as SW hasn't really had the opportunity to play Platt and Burrell with Hearn and Clayton and see if it works. Don't want to see any tweets from the players after 7pm with lights out for 9. Well rested, large breakfast of attitude covered in self belief tomorrow and game on for what could be the most important game of the season. They want to mix it with the big boys, then time to get their kahunas out and show us how good they are.

Platt is going to have to be turbo charged tomorrow. In a way can't wait for it as desperate for the win and then move onto Tuesday and bag another 3 pts. Think that will all but seal a playoff position!

Pretty darn wet here in Headingley, hope the match is going to be on. Any pitch inspection planned?

Right, everyone form an orderly queue to kiss Brendan. What a get out of jail card! I'll take the 3 pts, first half really chuffed with the performance in all departments, 2 nd half we lost our way after they scored, should have put the game out of site but credit to Brendan, superb delivery. Thought Burrell had a top game. Still a concern that we can't score in open play for toffee but we're creating the chances. Want to see a sharpened Hearn back for the run in. Thought Colbeck ran his socks off as well. Get in. Bring on Lowestoft and another 3 pts.

Unbelievable! Daniels is god! We played much better today, deserved the points. We needed them too, both _Boston and Tamworth won. Still in our own hands, that is the main thing. Bronze statue of Brandon outside the Town Hall please! Does he ever just score an ordinary goal?

Won't go O T T today as we were drawing by an own goal up to 94 minutes. However, lots of positives: played the ball on the floor much more after the first 10 minutes. Passing was much better, we played it down the flanks more and closed them down quickly. Credit to Mr Weaver for mixing it up bit and substitutions were effective. Above all - a great result and we have started moving in the right direction.

To be fair, town looked well up for it first half, just need that little bit of composure in front of goal. Not sure about their goal and how that got in but all lost in the mist of time and the 3 pts. Worked the ball down the flanks well but final ball let us down or no town player gambling. Still take that attitude into Tuesday and the wheels can go back on.

We are slowly getting back to how we can play- Good decision to drop the carthorse and play Thirlwell at the centre of defense- if only someone else can start scoring then the goals will really start to flow- feel sorry for Clayton being left out because Thewliss is too lightweight to play there-roll on Tuesday and 3 points against a side fighting against relegation
