    Still all to play for....

Post by crowbar6753 on Tue Mar 29, 2016 5:03 pm

The current form of the teams around us are as follows:

    North Ferriby WWWWL 66 Points
    AFC Fylde WDWW 66 Points
    Harrogate LDDLL 61 Points
    Nuneaton WDLDW 59 Points
    Boston WLLLL 58 Points
    Tamworth LLWDW 56 Points
    Chorley DLLWW 53 Points

Solihull, North Ferriby and AFC Fylde have just about wrapped it up, they are on great form as this shows. As for the rest, the form is all over the place. As mentioned on this forum earlier, three wins will probably do it i guess. So where are we going to get the points from, here is a list of our remaining fixtures:

    H Stalybridge Draw
    H Lowestoft Win
    A Alfreton Lose
    A Nuneaton Lose
    H Boston Draw
    A Fylde Lose
    H Corby Win

I reckon two wins, two draws and three defeats on current form, that would make it a really tight affair and probably down to the last game on the season at home to Corby. Which would be great as a spectacle. But this is all guessing, and the way the league has gone so far none of this will happen.
The more realistic approach would to be to not concede defeat in the games away at Nuneaton and Fylde, and try and beat Boston at home. Then beat Lowestoft and Corby at home and its job done Laughing
All i do know is that yes we are on a poor run of form, but by the law of averages, that must come to an end sometime, so these next two home games in my opinion and crucial.....

Nice work crowbar! If we win against say Boston, how does it factor in the 3 pts they've lost in the run in! Talk about squeaky bum time. I'm going to need a vat of wd40 at this rate!

Sorry to go all Statto on you all, Town do have two games in hand on the chasing pack which is crucial. If they can win one of those games in hand that would put us 6 points ahead of the chasing pack, and they only have 5 games to make up those points.
Also another factor is most of the teams in the pack all have games against each other, thus taking points off each other which really makes the point chase even more difficult.

    North Ferriby v AFC Fylde
AFC Fylde v Harrogate, Tamworth, N.Ferriby
    Nuneaton v Harrogate, Boston
    Boston v Harrogate
    Chorley v Tamworth, Solihull

Looking at this, if we could get a run together again, Fylde have some super tough games ahead. Boston have the easiest run in, which makes that game so important. Chorley could play spoilers and beat Tamworth for us and so on.......

It's better looking at those permutations than being in a relegation scrap!

Not wrong Surplus, everything thing now is about confidence, which is understandably low at the minute. But if Town could just get a win in these next two home games it will make that table look even more bearable.
Everything is about getting into the play offs, once the play offs start, form goes out of the window, it becomes a whole new ball game.

    To put it in context then- season 10/11 - fin 12, season 11/12- fin 15, season 12/13- fin 6, season 14/15 - fin 15.
2 new stands check, soccer camps check, recent increase in supporters check, 4th with a game in hand check, dip in form check. Definite progression but all getting lost in the fog of war.

Crowbar-Stalybridge (or possibly Scarybridge) depending on result, 17th with 1 win in 7, then Lowestoft. May well be a bit of luck copping these 2 next. They are where they are for a reason. Get Hearn back with a run of games and get the ball into the bloody box.
