He is the Managing Director of the Club at the moment, and a pretty damn good one too to be honest.

Oh I see. What's he like managing congestion at the turnstiles? I guess to be managing director you'd have to be good at helping and supporting your colleagues.

I think that the problem with the turnstiles is due to health and safety given the large erection which is going up at that end of the ground. We therefore only have the ability to use the turnstiles at the 1919 end of the ground.
Either that or it is an excellent ploy by Hamil and Trish to get more people in to the 1919

Re: Gary Plant
You would have thought a Managing Director would have the powers to fire a manager like in normal business.....Please Gary, if Irving wont do it then please take it upon yourself to do the deed. Unless however the title Managing Director has been given to you with absolute zero clout other than to decide whether the chips stayed or went.

Re: Gary Plant
Why does a Conference North club need a Managing Director? If we were a League 2 club, then I could understand, but at this level? I don't see why we would need one.

Garry does a huge amount for the Club behind the scenes, he's one of the friendliest people and most professional business minds I have met, top bloke.

Re: Gary Plant
I am aware he is a nice bloke, always friendly, but if you are so knowledgeable Craig, what does he do? I'm just intrigued why a club at our level requires one .

Why don't you ask him on Saturday? he is very approachable and will speak to you personally I am sure, if you wanted to, I think thats something best left for Garry to answer, because I know he does alot and gives alot of his time, but will still find a couple of minutes to speak to you Neil if you approached him.

I'm sure you can tell me Craig, considering your opinion that he does a lot.

Interesting you want me to tell you, and you won't ask the man himself? Take the time to ask him, if you have to the time to post about him on here.

Re: Gary Plant
Oh well. Garry, please tell me why the club can justify requiring a Managing Director at a non league club? What do you actually do? I'd like to know, because I think its not much at all....

Re: Gary Plant
Ask him to his face on Saturday, not behind a keyboard on here, if he has time to speak to you, which I am sure he will take a moment to say hello. He does alot, more than most know about, more than I know about, and more than his job suggests, if he isn't too busy with visiting directors or talking to sponsors, or dealing with the mascots visiting at the time, he will give you a few minutes.

Re: Gary Plant
Talking to and schmoozing with a few people and looking after mascots ain't a big deal Craig with whatever else he does. There is no requirement for the club to have an MD. Lets see how long that lasts when Irving follows Simon out the door.

he does alot more than that, but I was speaking about him finding a moment in between what he does on match day alone, to speak to doubters like yourself who question what he does, and am pretty sure Irving and Simon are going to be around abit yet. I hope so.

Re: Gary Plant
Can I ask you Craig, in all seriousness, what it would take for you to lose your faith in Simon Weaver? In my case I have nothing against the guy, he seems very pleasant (although I don't know him), I have just lost all belief that he has the necessary skill set (as they say) to become a successful manager at this level. Of course we will win some games (players of this quality will win a number of games without any manager at all), but gain promotion? I think not. Suppose we get all our players fit and still end up mid-table (or worse), will your faith remain unbroken?

My faith in Simon remains because I really believe in him and the team, despite the results, and the past, I am looking to the present and the future, I just feel he will get it sorted, I do not think I will lose faith in him, and will be sad if he leaves, which I hope he dosen't. I just want him to do well, and for the players to do well. for all of us

Between running laps of the Stray and washing the kits for Railway, I work for Network Rail.
You like to think you know alot of what is going on at the club. I premume you either cut the grass or have an interest in ladies football.
