Oh dear, one of our players appears to have placed a footballing bet. Potentially very serious matter. Simply not allowed down to Level Eight. Let's hope the FA are leniant.

Re: More problems...
I think it's a stupid rule unless it's the league you play in

Re: More problems...
I agree - it is a stupid rule. However, players know it,,so the rule is not the only thing that's stupid in this instance. With nowhere near the same serious level of consequence, nevertheless, the principle is the same - I can never understand why a player takes their shirt off after a goal, when they know they are going to get booked. Footballers need to be educated about responsibility and understand that they will not necessarily be immune to punishment just because they are footballers. For some, that's a hard lesson to learn.

The thing that i cannot stand with goalscorers is the stupid dancing and posing that goes on after they have only just done what they are really well paid for.

Re: More problems...
Re: Big Lundy's post, could be really bad news for our player concerned. I agree that the rules are draconian, but such is the potential danger of match fixing (or, even, the fear of match fixing), I think the authorities are right to impose it. Having said that, and human nature being what it is, I suspect that many players, at lower levels DO bet on games, maybe through a friend etc. What they do not do is post a photograph of the betting slip on social media for the world to see! I mean, come on.
However I also think that the relationship between football and gambling is rather hypocritical. If you have Sky or BT you will know that ads around games are dominated by betting company ads, and I still find it hard to believe that betting companies are allowed to sponsor teams. One of my favourite teams is West Ham and they have Betway emblazoned on their shirts, I really don't like that.
Oh well, lets hope, for a first offence, the FA are sympathetic to our player, but we may not be seeing on the pitch for a while.

Re: More problems...
If it wasn't on a match at this level I fail to see what the issue is. Could have an impact as the player who it might be has suspended his twitter account - hope it is just a coincidence as could be a loss for us.
Rather stringent rules but players should know better to not go showing it on tw(a)tter.

Re: More problems...
Been really impressed with him on the pitch as well. 11 games left minus 3 for when the red card kicks in. Where's t'other lad who's signed from France or wherever? Can he do a job?

Re: More problems...
Cheers Jordan – pitty the sad sap who reported him, someone somewhere needs to get a life. Hopefully they won’t suspend him. Totally OTT rule.
French forward went a few weeks back. Really do think that with Knowles struggling to get back we could do with an extra body up front.
Hopefully will have Thirlwell back soon to fill the Warren void.

If the lad thought he was in the wrong, would he really have tweeted the slip?Mountain out of a mole hill..
No brainner IMO, Platt straight swoop with Burrell. Thirwell is class but is more of a holding midfielder plus as been out for quite a while.
