    Warren Burrell

Post by TheNeil29 on Tue Dec 29, 2009 6:22 am

According to the Gateshead Match programme. He is no longer with the club.

Any ideas what happened? where has he gone? who has he signed for?

Bit of a shame in my opinion, because he was a decent player.

Burrell was quite talented, but like most of the youngsters playing at the start of the season, I think he lacked the 'toughness' this league needs. Only Michael Wood has really come through and showed he has that quality. Ratchford certainly better than Lamb. Bit of a shame about Rory but, hopefully, we should not need him now. Can't wait (please let it be on!) for tomorrow! LOts of new players (potentially 6!) to see, and get to recognise.

Just had a look at the FA Website, and his contract was terminated by mutual consent on 20 Nov 09. I even checked the transfers on the Non League Website, but nothing at all. May as well close this thread......

dont know, like to see what people are in for before i play against them see who's in for what and who might be a bit handy, but his name doesnt come up with anything easy, although i'm sure a search in some of the local rags websites would dish the dirt... playing the prison on Saturday,i'll probably be at center back so if he's playing upfront i'll maybe ask him (tell him he's got some interest - he might have got out though!). Seems a decent enough lad to be honest, some are a bit dead behind the eyes but he seems like he has half a brain, sad really but seems that you can get sent down if you just witness a mate doing something, googled one of them and he got 2 1/2 years for watching a mate beat up a taxi driver, taxi driver wasnt badly harmed either.. so maybe thats the same with Burrell, quite a bit was made how football saved him as he hung with a few bad 'uns back in sheffield. Presume if it was anything serious then he'd be in big boys prison rather than a YOI being as though he must have been 18 at least when he committed the offense, most in there that play football seem to be in for breaking and entering, or have had numerous minor run in's with the law.

Maybe harrogate fancy him back after a stretch if nothing has been made of it, he stands out as a decent player, nothing special mind not particularly fast or poetic with the ball but he is disciplined in his play, and i've seen him play upfront, midfield and center back and in each instance he looked like he belonged.
