Starting Line Up v Brackley? Empty Starting Line Up v Brackley?

Post by Innocent Bystander Sun Aug 02, 2015 11:26 am

Based on current fitness and form, i wold go with

    Crook
    Turner
    Ellis
    Shiels
    McWilliams
    Thirwell
    Kerry
    Colbeck
    Swain
    Knowles
    Clayton

Kerry starts for me because he is a better passer than Naomi

    Thoughts?

That would be mine also. Kerry has been a different player this pre season

Cec does seem to be giving it away alot with stray passes but he breaks up play so well...Difficult one to call really but Kerry does look very composed and very confident at the moment. I would want to slot Thewlis in there somewhere maybe start ahead of Colbeck.

    Crook
    Turner
    Bloomer
    Ellis
    McWilliams
    Colbeck
    Thirlwell
    Kerry
    Swain
    Knowles
    Clayton

For me Shiels is not good enough to start and Bloomer would be more solid. Obviously McGurk if he was fit.

Have to agree with IB . Tough on Nyoni but Kerry looks like the sort of player we hoped we'd signed last season. Has to start for me. I suspect that Simon may go with Nyoni. Thewlis on the bench for me, but should get some playing time. Colbeck has to start. Shiels has been excellent pre-season. Bench? Thewlis, Daniels, Nyoni, Bloomer, Bower

The countdown to the 'real thing' starts here...I'm getting nervous already!

Sorry, just to make the point that if we ARE to have a successful season this year, there will have to be good players on the bench. We need more than eleven.

You are apologising as though the bench is crap....I have never seen a better bench - Thewlis/Emmet/Shiels(when McGurk is fit)either Cec or Kerry/ plus the young lad from Stalybridge and whatever strikers we have

My apology was for coming straight back on to post, I totally agree, I think we have an excellent bench this season, and, just think, in a few weeks Gascoigne, Fallowfield and Emmett get added to the mix. Now that IS a good bench!

oh ok, misread.....yeah when you think of additional options and people to come back from injury I would be happy for any of those players to be in the starting 11....I guess Simon can't blame anything on injuries this season......When Gazza gets back I would play him over Thirwell, not sure if there is a place for Fallowfield right now until someone dips in form. I do quite like the strength of Swain and Colbeck, both stocky strong players and I guess you need that in this league.

Welcome boselecta - Yes we seem to be spoilt this season. Hopefully Gazza can find the form he displayed when he first signed, after his return from injury. An attacking driving midfielder who likes to get in the box..Has an eye for goal I think he scored 5 in 5 appearances, or 5 in 6 or something like that..A real crowd pleaser! Emmett was the star man for the second part of last season and Ryan Fallowfield was pretty awesome too.

It's all looking good. We just need to get off to a strong start. First three games potentially winnable. Come on Town !

This would be my line up. Very tough on Cec. But would just sneak Kerry in there, although I fear he'll disappear like the start of last season.

Shiels I'm still unsure of. Made a few too many errors pre season for my liking but definitely a player learning and has potential. Would always start McGurk and Ellis ahead of him though. Different class those two.

I don't understand why there is so much nastiness on this forum.  Why can't we accept that everyone is different and should be respected

I won't be at the Brackley game as I am away taking a well deserved break on holiday. I'm sure the forum members will provide the general consensus on the performance.

Whoever you are, I couldn't agree more - we had a constructive "open" Q&A yesterday evening in the 1919 venue, and plan to run a further one prior to Xmas.

Am aware that Jordan still has a couple of coach seats left for the Brackley away game - details on the Supporters Club Facebook page. Don't forget if you pay for the Brackley trip the Curzon Ashton away trip is FREE affraid affraid

Have a good one Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
