We had a crowd of 3,500 @ “Wetherby Road” for the friendly v Leeds back in 2001!

Club said 2750 as of back end of the week.
Also said that 2000 available but thought we had a capacity of just over 3000.
Wonder if the new stand is adding to it a fair whack?

Still very quiet on here with just over 2 days to go before one of the biggest games (albeit a 'friendly') in Town's recent history, not every day we get over 3000 fans in the ground, new stand, new dugouts (!) and (it would seem) a new programme.

Don't really like Leeds but it will be interesting to see some of their new signings, Chris Wood etc.

Wonder if Massimo Cellini will grace us with his presence, and will he sit next to Irving in the main stand.

    Excitement building!

Well, I'd suggest we all embrace this game, because this game will be one of the highlights of the season and one of the best crowds, by a country mile.

On another note, I am really struggling to get excited about this season. The pre-season signings don't excite me, and the ambition of the current management (10th place finish) does not give me any cause to be extra optimistic for this season, at all.

    See you all on Friday.

Exactly Neil. The excitable build up from the club to this match covers a very sober reality of singings which confirm the austerity aims fr the season stated by the club.

Of which we get to pay more for and doesn't really lay out any ambitions to grow the fanbase to fill said new stand.......which, unless new cladding and final touches change it and could still happen, is also visually sombre in itself unlike the kop of fear and the fanfare to last seasons start.

It all depends on how they start the season. The first 10 games will indicate that for me. The team has to be judged on competitive games, not pre-season friendlies.

For me, we still need a prolific striker, but if the current pre-season signings are anything to go by, it will be a Striker who is prolific at a lower level than the National North, because I can see the club refusing to pay stupid wages for players anymore. When it comes to a backup GK for Crook, as long as they are of a decent standard, I'd be content with that.

The squad (currently) that we have is better than the 10th place that is being suggested. That is a deliberate ploy by Simon to take the pressure off the management and the playing staff due to being burnt last season.

The National North is an extremely tough league this season, but as long as Simon keeps it consistent in his team selections and his tactics without tinkering unless absolutely necessary. Then we have a good chance of the playoffs.

So the Chairman and his son may as well go then, no?

If the previous seasons are anything to go by, then that would be a reasonable accurate assumption.

As much as I would like to see it happen personally, I don't foresee it happening in the immediate future.
