Post by JueChorleyFC Wed Feb 18, 2015 1:26 pm

A friendly hello from here in Lancashire!

I've been looking forward to this weekends fixture since they got released last year. Spending the weekend in the lovely town of Harrogate. My third visit across to Yorkshire, the other two times where to Harrogate Railway.

Should be a good game of football this weekend, with lovely weather?!

    See you all soon.

A warm welcome awaits you and the other Chorley FC fans at the weekend.

Any idea how many fans Chorley are bringing?

Not sure how many we are bringing, many are stopping over though and quite a few on the train (or they where last I heard).

It's a shame that this game didn't land on a nice weekend instead of the end of February or else there would be a lot more.

Yes he is. He's our assistant manager. Not pulled on the black and white shirt for a while though.

You will probably have more supporters than us because we have hundreds boycotting our games now.

It's hardly a shock that attendances fell given some of the abject displays on the pitch. And I think those who "made a fuss" can count themselves partly responsible for the positive changes which have taken place recently - the Weavers will not admit it, but I think they are influenced by fan opinion both on here and vocally at the ground.

Welcome to you Chorley fans anyway - your leek & potato soup is the best in the league.

Will be interesting to see the attendance today. I suspect there are only a few 'hard core' boycotters, I mean why cut off your nose to spite your face? I wouldn't be surprised to see close to 600 there today. Word of the exploits of our 'youngsters' must be getting around the town. And who doesn't want to see Andy Gascoigne get his 5th goal in 5 games!! And a Paul Clayton hat trick (I'm in optimistic mood!).

I intend going along today - town will always be my club but I do lack the enthusiasm and love I had pre-weaver days. The weavers have shown enough to demonstrate what kind of people they are. Clearly some people don't have enough about them to challenge aspects about the club that they don't like which I personally find very disappointing. We've witnessed some very decent, committed individuals leave the club (players and staff) and I have no doubt there will be many more in the future.

It's easy to mock those who've taken a stand and boycotted games but i consider their actions commendable when you consider some of the rather unsavoury acttivities that have affected the club.

The team are doing well at the moment - it would seem this is largely due to favouring the talents of young inexperienced players, players that are compliant and far less challenging of the ridiculous methods and logic applied by a manager who is hopelessly out of his depth and widely laughed at by supporters of other non league clubs.
    enjoy the game!

Very good performance today. At first glance I wasn't convinced it was a free kick let alone a sending off but a couple of supporters i spoke to were clear that the opposing player led with both feet off the ground. I'm guessing they were right given that an ambulance was called and the poor lad needed gas and air - hope it's not too serious and the lad makes a speedy recovery.

Thought Cecil was our man of the match today - a player we've been lacking since bolder departed. Jordan was superb too. Clayton showed some very drcent touches and needs to be signed permanently. A deserved victory overall. A game we never looked like losing.

Just wondered why it took him just over 6 months and out of the playoffs to find out what most of us knew in August but he was bound to catch on sooner or later

Town Supporter, it was the sort of tackle that can break your leg.
Andy has broken both his Tibia and Fibia.
I suggest you invest in some glasses.

I take your word for it - initially I thought he'd overrun it, but apparently not - will be a big loss.
Distinctly unimpressed with Chorley. James dean looked a donkey.

Agree.  I thought Chorley were one of the worst sides (from the top 8 or 9) I have seen this season.  They only seemed intent on lumping the ball forward all afternoon and played no passing football at all.
I've got neck ache tonight, glad I don't have to watch that every week.  If they make it into the play-offs I will be amazed.

Instead of concentrating on how 'bad' Chorley were let's give credit to our team who didn't allow a team 6th in the league to play. I thought they were all excellent - especially Emmett and Thewlis. Nyoni also very composed. The elements of a very good team are here.

Distressing to see the injury to Andy. All best wishes to him for a good recovery.

Sorry TS but cant let this go without a response. Rather than go over old ground why don't you send me your e-mail address to enable me to send you a copy of the Supporters Club Q&A minutes so you can see for yourselves some of the questions asked by those people "who don't have enough about them to challenge aspects of the club"

"Its easy to mock those who've taken a stand and boycotted games" - you really are priceless. One there has been no "mocking" of those who have taken a stand and boycotted games" on this forum but would remind you that it was only a couple of weeks ago that you suggested you would be going down to Railway instead of staying at the CNG, at which point we also started to get comments from Railway fans on our forum, probably because Railway management closed down their  own forum some time ago due to abusive posts they were - now imagine your response if we did that|!!!

"The Team are doing well at the moment.................................................and widely laughed at by supporters of other non league clubs"  -  again if you read the minutes of the recent Q&A you would be a little bit better informed on the subject but, just for the record, the present management team and Club volunteers recently won a prestigious Community Award in recognition of the work we have done in the Community over the last 12 months and our recent Neil Diamond Social evening was the 11th social event that raised money for local and national charities including St Michaels Hospice, Christie Cancer Unit, Help for Heroes to name but 3. With respect to how opposition Supporters feel about Town you need to talk to more supporters from Boston, BPA, Solihull and Chorley - and on the subject of Town supporters what a fantastic performance yesterday in the New Stand - our sponsors almost awarded the MOM to the supporters (men and women I hasten to add!)

So why after this period of quiet have I returned to the Forum - 2 reasons:

Harrogate Town Supporters - the recent Q&A (personal criticism here - we need to do this twice per season) was constructive and blunt in terms of questions from the floor and it gave Directors / Management the opportunity to explain the rationale behind certain decisions . Everyone from Fans to Directors agree that the most important priority is a successful 1st team and the Directors and Team couldn't be happier with support from fans both home and away. THANK YOU!!

Harrogate Town volunteers - there are an enormous number of people who give up their time voluntarily to support what goes on at the CNG both on and off the field - they too wish to see a successful 1st team, are more then happy to share their opinions with the Directors (good and bad), but have remained incredibly supportive over the 1st half of the season when results / performances were so disappointing - THANK YOU!!

And one final note - I would take this opportunity to wish Gazza all the very best in his recovery - the tackle was a bxxxxy disgrace.

ps. tell you what TS, you need to get out a bit more so here's the deal - if you keep it to yourself I will pay for your seat on the coach going down to the Boston game next Saturday - another tough fixture particularly as we will have lost 2 key midfielders so we need all the support we can get. Just drop me confirmation and I will sort!!

Thanks for the detailed post Ged which has prompted a number of thoughts:

    1. I would welcome you posting more regularly again - this would then not allow people to say that you only post when the team are on a good run.

    2. Surely TS's "mocking" comment was based on previous comments not only on this forum, but further up this thread?

    3. Have the Q&A minutes been emailed to Supporters' Club members? I haven't noticed them in my inbox. If not, can they be please, or perhaps even better placed on this forum?

    4. My view is that there is room for both the loyal volunteers you describe and those who criticise from an independent viewpoint - it seems that the club is now putting the underperforming first half of the season behind it, and I think both of those groups of people have been needed for this corner to be turned.

    5. Like you and Jordan, I would love to see TS at the Boston game!

    Here we go again !
Can you please enlighten us on this "Masterplan".
What do you call a "few" good results.
8 of our last 11 games (a quarter of the season) have been against teams in the current top 7.
We have won 4, drawn 3 and lost 4.
This is a different team to the garbage we witnessed before Christmas - no Nelthorpe, Meynall, Kerry, Lenighan, Killock, Barnes - although you probably won't know this if you are one of the "boycott" brigade.
Go back to sleep and stop bothering us with this "same old same old"
Excellent post Ged, give Andy the fans (proper ones) best wishes when you see him.
