Brackley, the late show.....
Interesting that we scored in the time the ref added on for their timewasting.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
Got to agree. Their keeper has to take the blame for their defeat. Should have been more than 4 minutes but it will do.
Poor performance today unfortunately with a big crowd watching. But when you are poor and get three points it is a plus.
We were by far the better side at their place in August and lost 1-0 - swings and roundabouts.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
Why did we choose today in front of 1534 crowd to play our worst game of the season. We will be lucky to keep any possible new fans after that show. Why did Simon decide to play 3-5-2 formation! It was a disaster. The long ball again proved a poor decision when we had nobody up front who could head the ball. I don't think I would have given a man of the match award because everyone was below par. The only good thing was the 3 points we took by default.

Danny Ellis deserved the MOTM. Superb performance.

I agree with Danny Ellis MOM I thought he was the best player on the pitch. Shame about the standard of play - terrible, but nevertheless we won, so it doesn't seem so bad.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
Dire performance by Town. They deserved a draw. Danny Ellis stood out for us. Crook also worthy of a mention in keeping out the team with the most shots (ie Brackley ... and, roughly 3 shots).
Bad advert for the extra 1000 fans, but at the end of the day Father Xmas gave us free entry (would have felt ripped off if i'd had to pay) and doubled up with an undeserved 3 points - wow not so bad after all !

Not a good idea to start with Daniels on the bench.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
Daniels has to be the first name on the team sheet. Not starting with your top scorer? Very disappointed with the overall performance today. A lot of those players had an off day today, with the exception of 4. Turner, Ellis, Kerry and Crook. We were very lucky to come away with the 3 points. On the balance, Brackley deserved at least a point today.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
We won against a team who came to draw and are notoriously difficult to break down, on a Saturday when a couple of teams around us lost. I would consider that a success, perhaps we didn't entertain but we got the job done!

I seem to remember them drawing at Fylde a few weeks ago.

I appreciate that many people volunteer their services, but the club really ought to get someone else to write the match report. It's quite embarrassing from someone who is listed on the website as 'press officer'.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
Great day yesterday, with a nice pre match atmosphere and really inviting for those trying Town out.
Then came the football.
Awful.
Yet again our forwards proved they ain't up to the job. Needs addressing asap and as for gloves in 14 degrees, get a grip.
The most telling comment the players and perhaps management - given the odd decision to drop daniels and the teams lack lustre performance - should reflect upon was someone saying to his mate on the way out, "at free, that was over priced".
Such a blinking shame what happened yesterday - despite the last grasp and barely deserved victory. For the 500 regulars that would do but for the floating 1000 or so it was a capitulation of the wider efforts of the club to appeal to a broader fanbase in the town.

Re: Brackley, the late show.....
Well, not too sorry I missed that one. Sounded pretty dire, but at least we won and we needed those points. The table looks pretty good for us at the moment, anything less than 6th or 7th place finish would be a real disappointment now. If only our strikers would start scoring regularly we should make the play offs, we have 4 of them (not counting Daniels and Colbeck), they need to start delivering the goods.
Have to agree about the Match report, a bit toe-curling! Surely the club should appoint a professional Press Officer (money cannot be the issue), it does not do the club's reputation any favours having these semi-literate ramblings on the club's face to the world. The club is well run in most other ways, why allow this situation to continue?

Thanks TF, but I am happily retired and the pension/s ain't too bad! Very happy to contribute to the programme, but the club, in my view, needs a professional hand on the tiller.

Good example of an easy to read, well written, fair report. Don't try too hard would be my advice. We wouldn't need much of a report if the guys in the video booth on the main stand put some highlights on the website.
J K Rowling crossed with Wordsearch doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. To nearly quote a well known phrase,
"We have all the wrong words not necessarily in the right order"
